Terms of Service
Last updated: 24 August 2026
These Terms govern your use of the Semalt AI Website Builder at semalt.app — the tool that turns a plain-language description into a live website. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing or using semalt.app (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time; your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
2The Service
Semalt AI Website Builder lets you:
- Describe a website in plain words and have it generated by AI.
- Refine the result in chat — layout, content, style and language.
- Publish your site to yourname.semalt.app with free SSL, or connect your own custom domain.
You can try the Service for free. Some features may require an account or a paid plan, and we may add, change, limit or remove features over time.
3Accounts
You can start building without an account, but publishing or saving a site may require you to register. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.
4Your content and ownership
You retain ownership of the prompts you enter and the websites you generate with the Service. To operate the Service, you grant Semalt a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, process, reproduce and display your content solely to provide, maintain and improve the Service and to publish your site at your request.
You are responsible for your content and confirm that you have the necessary rights to any text, images or other material you add or ask the AI to include.
5AI-generated content
Websites and copy are generated automatically by AI and may contain errors, omissions or content that resembles other material. We do not guarantee that generated output is accurate, original, complete or fit for a particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing and editing your site before publishing it.
6Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to create, host or distribute content that:
- Is illegal, infringing, defamatory, deceptive, or violates others’ rights.
- Contains malware, phishing, spam or attempts to mislead visitors.
- Is hateful, harassing, or sexually explicit involving minors.
- Attempts to abuse, overload, reverse engineer or gain unauthorised access to the Service.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate this section.
7Publishing and hosting
Sites you publish are hosted on a semalt.app subdomain with SSL, or on a custom domain you control and are responsible for. Subdomains remain the property of Semalt and may be reclaimed if a site is inactive or violates these Terms. We may remove or disable any site that breaches these Terms or applicable law.
8Our intellectual property
The Service itself — including the platform, software, AI systems, the Semalt name, logo and designs — belongs to Semalt or its licensors. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer or create derivative works of the Service without our written permission.
9Fees and refunds
The core builder is free to try. Paid plans or add-ons, where offered, are billed as described at checkout and governed by our then-current pricing and refund policy. Please review those terms before purchasing.
10Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available, but we may modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of it — including hosted sites — at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any such change or interruption.
11Disclaimer of warranties
The Service and all generated content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Semalt disclaims all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
12Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Semalt will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of use, profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
13Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Semalt and its affiliates from any claims, damages or expenses arising from your content, your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
14Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your sites or account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that could harm Semalt, other users or third parties. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. ownership, disclaimers, liability) will continue to apply.
15Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland, United Kingdom, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The courts of Scotland will have jurisdiction over any disputes, except where mandatory local law provides otherwise.
16Entire agreement & contact
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Semalt regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
